    Can you post the exact error message, or some indication as to what is not working?

    SR-2 might be an issue here, but lets cover the basics first.

    OK so chances are the User is hitting one of these protected cells and trying to change it. But they can't because the sheet is protected.

    Or maybe the code is trying to apply the password and it fails.

    Try the following:

    Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    Worksheets("Sheet1").EnableSelection = xlUnlockedCells
    End Sub

    You can read more about that at http:// j-walk.com/ss/excel/usertips/tip002.htm

    Hope this helps.

    Do you know exactly what the User is doing?

    How about revisiting your code and check to see if you are referring to the sheet while its not the Active sheet?!

    Would you mind sending me a copy of your code, I have Excel 97 Sr2(i) and 'I'll look at it and see where it is failing.

    In both subs the first line seems to be commented out as ther appears to be a ' at the start of the line. If that is so it might explain the errors.

    1) Which line are you having problems with?

    2) If this is the EXACT code that you sent to your client, how come you are changing the outline while the sheet is protected. The Unprotect line seems commented out in both subs, so your worksheets will never be unprotected so that the outline will work.

    3) You can always populate the worksheets with dummy numbers, or better yet empty them to make the workbook file size smaller.

    Try uncommenting the Unprotect lines, and see what happens.
