    Reports Creating (Access 2000)

Ok guys it is the newbie again. I need to know how to create a report that would calculate number of appointments by time and day of the week. For example I have a table made that has a long date field for Apointment Date and a separate Appointment Time field. Lets say I have on 1/2/00 I have 1 appointment for 1PM and 4 for 3PM and 6 for 8PM. Then on 1/3/00 I have 6 appoinments at 1PM and 0 at 3PM and 2 for 6PM Is there a way to create a report with the fileds Showing:

    1/2/00 1PM -1
    3PM - 4
    8PM - 6
    1/3/00 1PM - 6
    3PM - 0
    6PM - 2

I need this information to forecast what appointments I have open for the next 2 weeks. So I would like to enter a begining date of 1/1/00 and an ending date of 1/7/00 and get the above information in a report.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am at a total loss and all the books I have don't tell me anything.

Thank you in advance for all help I can get in this matter.

would a query do instead of a report? you could create a summary or totals query that would group your appointments into their dates and times.

in query design view, bring down onto the QBE grid 3 fields:
appt date, appt time, and one other field .
go to the View menu, choose totals, and a new row is added to the QBE grid.
leave it saying "group by" for the date field and the time field.
for the third field choose count.
that should give you your totals for each time slot (nb it won't show time slots with zero appts)
to specify a range of dates, you would be best off with a parameter query.

hope this helps - hope my explanation is clear!

Extremely Clear and works perfectly. Thanks. Now I need to go one step further. Is there a way I can show the last name of the people that have those appointments?
    Ex: 1/2/00 1PM 4 Appts. Guidera
    Mussion
    Laster
    Killings
I have a last name field in the database.
Your help in greatly appreciated. You guys in Woody's Lounge are the best!
