    Office XP upgrade (Office XP)

I have Office 97 so I know that I qualify for an Office XP upgrade (as opposed to the full version). I'm going to install my new Office XP on a NEW computer. Do I first have to go through the rigamarole of installing my OLD Office 97 software on the new computer, so that when I install the Office XP upgrade it will find that I have a prior version of Office installed?

    Thanks.

no. you will need the office 97 disk though. it'll ask for proof and pop the office 97 disk in the drive.
