Address book / Contacts (OL 2000 IMO mode)

Having trouble with the display and order of names. Say I enter a name, perhaps John Smith, as a new contact, and specify 'File as Smith, John', it doesn't necessarily appear as Smith, John in the address book. It is quite likely to be John Smith, and then I need to look at Properties for that person in the Address book and change it there too.

Then say I put in a contact as 'Smith family', and select 'File as Smith family'. Even if I put this as all in the First name box, the address book chooses to display it as 'family, Smith'. Similarly if I put in a contact such as Fellowship of the Ring, it displays it as Ring, Fellowship of.

How can I make the address book display and order do what I want not what it chooses?

Go to Tools | Options | Preferences Tab, Contact Options. Check the Default Full Name and File As settings. On your Smith Family example, you probably need to click the Full Name button on the form and manuallly enter data where you want it.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I had already done that! Any other ideas?

If you're open to using macros, you could try using the code posted <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=out&Number=103230&Searc h=true&Forum=out&Words=unkamunka&Match=Username&Se archpage=0&Limit=99&Old=allposts&Main=103216> here</A>

    Hope this helps
