    lost CD key (office 2000 pro)

    i've lost the cd key for my copy of office pro. i have it running, and i have the original cd's. is there somewhere i can locate the number in the registry so that i can do a fresh install on a new hard drive?

    No.
    If a retail version, you need to call Microsoft.
    If an OEM version, you need to call the OEM.

    The Product ID in the registry cannot, as far as I know, be reverse engineered to determine the original install key. Then again, I don't hang out in the dark corners of the web where one might find such information.
