You should be able to view the file by opening up in Notepad or a similar text editor...I believe it's a simple text file. I'm not sure what it's logging. You might answer that question after you see what it contains.

Re: Event Log

But, where is the log or rather what is it's name?
This is the error I am getting: runtime error
Crogramfilesmicrosoft messagesystemreminder.exe abnormal program termination

Where can I find out what is wrong?

In Windows Explorer, try searching the C: drive with this criteria or something similar: *.log. You should get a list of all log files which, if they're simple text files, can be opened with Notepad.

Re: Event Log

Event Log, that you are asking about, is Windows NT/2000/XP utility, not Windows 95/98. If error message does not contain log file name, it is seemly not created. Check C: root and Windows folders for log flies anyway. To solve the problem, try to reinstall the application (Windows Messenger?).

Re: Event Log

If you have it turned on (and this is off by default) you can have these errors written to a text file called FAULTLOG.TXT. Chances are high that this hasn't been enabled on your PC.

You can hack the registry, or do yourself a favor and download the latest TweakUI and turn this on so you have a reference in the future. If I recall correctly,it's on the paranoia tab or thereabouts - Write errors to FAULTLOG.TXT - fair warning, it's not all that useful but you will at least have a record of what blew up and when.
