    Importing Lotus 123 Workbooks (Excel 2000 SR-1)

We had an employee recently leave. She used Lotus Smart Suite <img src=/S/drop.gif border=0 alt=drop width=23 height=23>. Her replacement does not (corporately we use M$ products but two higherups choose not to) <img src=/S/hairy.gif border=0 alt=hairy width=15 height=15>. I need to convert the Lotus 123 workbooks (not worksheets - I know how to to that) into Excel <img src=/S/sigh.gif border=0 alt=sigh width=15 height=15>. I checked the knowledge base to no avail. <img src=/S/scream.gif border=0 alt=scream width=15 height=15> We are converting from Lotus Smartsuite 123 release 9. <img src=/S/doh.gif border=0 alt=doh width=15 height=15> There are about 100 workbooks. I know I can open them in Smartsuite save them as Excel 97 files, open them in 2000 and save them <img src=/S/headthrob.gif border=0 alt=headthrob width=15 height=15> however, I was looking for a time saver.

I think that the procedure you outlined is what you are going to have to do. You could probably write a Lotus macro to open all of the files and save them as XL97 workbooks, but I don't know Lotus so I can't say for sure. If you get that far, an Excel macro to open all of the workbooks and save then as XL2K workbooks would be fairly simple.
