    Windows Update

Anyone else still having problems with Windows Update?

When I've tried to use Windows Update at any time in the past few days, one of the following has happened:

    1) Everything proceeds fine, select a file, accept legal statement, it downloads, bar moves to the right for installation and then the window closes and it reports that the installation failed.

    or

    2) The legal statement never appears (you see the IE "Navigation cancelled" screen inside the frame) and I press "Accept" anyhow and then it never downloads.

    or

    3) The add and remove process confuses everything and it will no longer navigate the site and I must restart the computer.

I have 11 non-critical updates and I've been trying to apply them one at a time so that I can get everything installed so I can go and install the Office XP SP-1.

    Thanks,
    James

Do you have a "Script Blocker" running? If so, turn it off, for it is not allowing Windows update to run the required script.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Hi: They found out that there was a problem with the MS servers. You should be able to do the download now, unless, of course, they are having more problems.

i think all the ms servers are down tonight. I can't get into any ms news servers, private or public, or msdn or sharepoint webpart download sites. <img src=/S/sigh.gif border=0 alt=sigh width=15 height=15>

Yeah, I've tried to leave this new machine as stock as possible. I did have to regedit to fix something with the stupid .net connections. (Don't connect the same passport to multiple logins or it'll get confused and start reporting new mail on hotmail that's already been read with a different login.) But I haven't really changed anything else from the stock settings.

I've been following the problems as reported in WWW and WOW, so I was just wondering if that was coming back. I have managed to get one or two things to install. Seems to be incredibly hit and miss.

One thing, a network card upgrade was slowly moving through the "install" process, drawing a new square on the progress bar every 5 minutes. So I (fearfully) cancelled that and it reported a successful installation. I love the idea of Windows Update, but I think there's still some issues.
