    Kernel32.dll

I have a 98 PC that is running extremely slow, and on checking MSINFO32.EXE for started tasks, KERNEL32.DLL is shown THREE times. Can anyone shed any light on this i.e. does that point to something nasty happening?

It doesn't necessarily mean anything evil is afoot. If the system is running slow, press CTRL+ALT+DEL and see what is running. Do you have a lot of icons down by the clock? These are little programs that suck up a bit of resources here and there and could probably be disabled.

The same old song and dance applies, too - probably need a good scandisk/defrag run to make sure the drive isn't making life painful.

How much system meory is there? Is it slow all the time, or just when you have a few programs open?
