    searchable memo field

    Is there a way to seach memo fields by key words? I want to make the policies and procedures I've entered in memo fields searchable? Any advise? Right now it's a simple table with two fields: ID and memo

    Re: searchable memo field

    You can use the InStr() function to search the memo filed for the key word. A query could be designed to return the ID and memo where instr() > 0. This would return each row where the key word was found.

    SELECT ID, Memo FROM tblProcedures WHERE InStr(1, [Memo], "Employee") > 0;

    Hope this helps

    Re: searchable memo field

    Why not add a field for keywords (I'll let you put multiple values in that field for this purpose). Then do your search on the keywords field instead of wading through up to 32K of (twice that in Access 2000) characters in your memo field.
