    Re: No Windows Update access

    There are several possible causes.

    1. There were messages that Windows Update website was shut down for a couple of days. Try to connect once again.

    2. Open your Internet Explorer, then from Tools | Internet Options | Advansed tab slide down and check "Use PCT 1.0" and "Use TLS 1.0" under "Security".

    3. From C:Program FilesWindows Update delete all files EXCEPT vuhistv3.log

    4. If none of it is working, download updates from <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/corporate.asp>Windows 98 Updates Corporate Site</A>

    Re: No Windows Update access

I discovered what was wrong. This may be of interest.

After reversing all the tweaks I had made in the last 5 days since the problem arose, It struck me that about a week ago I began using "Cache Sentry" for the first time.

I usually clear my cache daily, but in the last week I have let Cache Sentry take care it. Everything was working great except for not being able to connect with WU.

I cleared the TIF cache and that took care of it.

This is not an indictment of Cache Sentry. Apparently there was something in my TIF that was causing the problem.

Frustrating problem. Simple answer. Never had that happen before (LOL)

Anyway, I will definitely file this one away along with your valuable suggestions for future troubleshooting.

    Thanx

    J
