Compilation error on conversion to A2k from A97 (Access 2000)

When I convert my database I get "There were compilation errors during the conversion or enabling of this database".

Before conversion, I deleted the one and only module that existed as I didn't need it.

    Any clues

Open any module and go to Tools | References.
Uncheck any missing reference and as the database comes from Access 97, chance are you need DAO.
Check Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library

    Francois,

I deleted my only module in A97 before converting, so that shouldn't be the problem, should it???

The references I have checked in A2k are:

    Visual Basic for Applications
    Microsoft Access 9.0 object library
    ----------------------- 3.6 -----------------
    LM Library
    OLE Automation
Microsoft visual basic for applications extensibility 5.3

    Everything else is unchecked.

Is there any code behind any of your forms - e.g. button clicks? If so, make sure you compile your database in 97 before trying to convert it.
    Hope that helps.

Re: Compilation error on conversion to A2k from A97 (Access 2000)

I do have quite a few forms with buttons - as well as a switchboard.

In my options on A97, I have "Compile on demand" selected. As I've utilised all the forms at some stage, shouldn't they be fine?

In the help it also mentions going into the design of each form, clicking on the code and compiling from there. (In the A97 version)

Is this the best way to go about things??

    Thanks,
    John

I would suggest doing that for one form and when you're in the VBEditor choose Debug-Compile All Modules. Then save the database and attempt the conversion again.

There was a bit of code skulking around to launch an external application. No idea what it was doing there, but then you get that with "inherited" databases. Everything is fine now

The compilation thing is handy to know as eventually I will have a host of databases to convert to A2k.

Is there a "known list" of conversion issues loitering anywhere??

    Thanks,

    John
