jpgs in an an OLE object on form (ACCESS 2000)

I am having trouble. I know this has got to be something simple. After I create an OLE Unbound object (whether I drag an OLE field in from my list window), or whether I use the image icon from my toolbox toolbar on my form, why when i insert a bitmap image or excel file can i see the object (linked or not) just fine. But when i insert a JPG image, all i get is eg. Jim Brown.jpg written in the OLE space where I want the picture. Sure when I double click on it...it opens the source file, but I can't see the image in the form, just the text...looking for an opportunity here to create a form to contain individual mug shots with ID number, Last Name and First Name...Any help would be SO VERY MUCH appreciated.

Dear Nannette,

I have always had to convert all .tiff and .jpg files to .bmp in order to get them to work. I am not aware of any other way to get an image to show up in an Access form.

Preston,
I am beginning to see this for factual...wow have i tried a lot of things tonight. BMP takes up too much room...you would think that Access 2000 would be more up to date and with the times?????

What kind of code are you using to set the image control to display the jpg? The following should work. It sets the picture property of an image control to a graphics file. The full path and filename are stored in a text field, ImgTextPath.

Private Sub Form_Current()
On Error Resume Next

'only try to display an image where a path is saved
If Len(Me.ImgTextPath & "") > 0 Then

Me.imgVisual.Picture = Me.ImgTextPath
End If 'Len(Me.ImgTextPath & "") > 0
End Sub 'Form_Current()
