Windows XP hanging on shutdown or restart
Has anyone else had the problem of Windows XP hanging on shutdown or restart? I am using Windows XP Home Edition full version. I am using a Pentium 3 - 667mhz processor, 2X20.4 gig. hard drives and 512 mgs Ram. I do not shut down the computer very often but more times than not, it will hang when it gets to the part where it says its saving your settings. To continue I have to hit the restart button on the tower and the computer will then restart and reload but not shut down. If I then restart of shut down it will do so. I hope someone out there has the answer to this so it can be fixed. Thank you, Betty

Re: Windows XP hanging on shutdown or restart
Try to perform a maintenance first - clean Temp folders, IE cache and defragment your C: drive.
Also check your drives for errors.
If your boot drive (where Windows resides, usually C: drive) is formatted in FAT32, it is better to convert it to NTFS - it will make your system more stable and secure.
