    FP2002 'insert html' icon disappears (2002)

    When I "insert html" into my page, a small icon appears, allowing me to double-click on it to edit the html. If I save the page, then come back later to change the html, the icon is gone. I tried highlighting the area where the icon would have been, but it just simply is not there. The underlying html exists (by viewing it in html mode). If I change the html, then go back to regular mode, the icon is back.

    How can I fix this?

    Can you explain what you mean by 'insert html'?
    Are you doing this in Normal view?

    Re: FP2002 'insert html' icon disappears (2002)

    I have a table, and in the right hand cells I need to use the "indsert html" command to insert code that my shopping cart system uses.

    That's all fine and dandy, but when I come back later to edit the html to update prices, the icon for the inserted html is gone. I have no way of editing the html from normal view. THe html is actually still there, because I can edit it in html view, and the page appears fine in preview mode.

    Simply put, the icon disappears in normal view. I need a way to get it back.

    Re: FP2002 'insert html' icon disappears (2002)

    I use FP 2000, so this might not be exactly the same. I use Insert, Advanced, HTML... and get something like this in the code (spaces added at the start of the comment tag to allow posting):
    <hr>< !--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->Hello!< !--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan --><hr>
    What happens to the "webbot" tags on your pages? Are those being removed?

    I can make the graphic disappear by replacing it with a one-space ALT tag:
    <hr>< !--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" ALT=" " startspan -->Hello!< !--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan --><hr>
    Maybe this somehow crept into your default? Check out all the options for this tag in <A target="_blank" HREF=http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/fp2ksdk/html/attributesonwebbotpseudotag.asp>Attributes on the WEBBOT Pseudo-Tag</A>.

    Just for reference, these are the various tags I get for HTML I am adding (the ASP code tag is different, but since it wasn't on the same page, I have not included it in this illustration.)

    Sounds like an XP bug. What happens if you try to use the ALT tag (e.g., ALT="MyHTML")? Does it show after re-opening?

    </font></td>

    That's an example of one of my "inserted hmtl" spots.

    Only the placeholder icon in normal mode disappears once the page is saved, closed, and reopenned. The actual html is still there, and it even displays properly in preview mode and when published.

    < ! -- webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->
    <form method=post action="https://www.readysecure1.com/cgi-bin/cart32.exe/BLAHBLAHCOM-AddItem">
    8" POWER SUPPLY Y-CABLE

    <input type=hidden name="PartNo" value="001-999-001">
    <input type=hidden name="Item" value="POWER SUPPLY Y-CABLE">
    <input type=hidden name="Qty" value="1">
    Price: $4.00
    <input type=hidden name="Price" value="4.00">
    <input type=hidden name="Weight" value="1">
    <input type=submit value="Add To Shopping Cart">
    </form>

    < ! -- web bot bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan --></font>

    Take out the extra space near webbot. That's an example of one of my "inserted hmtl" spots.

    Prolly is a bug. I'm gonna be reformatting in a few days, reinstalling WinXP and OfficeXP. We'll see if the poroblem goes away after that.

    Thanks for the help.

    Re: FP2002 'insert html' icon disappears (2002)

    Are you referring to the << >> Insert HTML icon in your toolbar?
    I also find it's appearance/disappearance quite confusing. At times it is available and at other times it is greyed out. I can find no consistency to this.
    Anyone?
