Animation

I know I'll get a LOT of flak for saying this, but I hate the animated icons and pictures. They are very distracting when reading posts. Eileen, I think you should ban them!

Other than that, this Lounge is just GREAT.

P.S. I know I can shut off users' pictures from being displayed, but that shuts off all the pictures, and I enjoy the ones that don't jump around.

    Re: Animation

Not everyone loves animated smileys. I use them occasionally for and , or even ; but much as I admire their creativity, I avoid most of them.

I kinda like the animated smileys, but I have to agree, some of the animated userpics are distracting.

    Re: Animation

Personally, I don't have a problem with them, (of course this will change when i'm accessing the site from home at a crawling 56k, despite that shortcoming, this is still the best forum site i've seen!

There's more discussion in this thread regarding animated content, including posts from site leaders.

Personally, I enjoy some of the creative userpics seen around here (that despite a home connection that may be nominally 56K but is really closer to 28K).

And my puppy wolf needs some room to run freeeee (be happy you can't hear me sing that...)

Seriously though... I have a T1 at work and DSL at home so everything pops up pretty quick for me... even the minute size of the little animations still cause a problem? Would we have to get rid of animated pics too? (I think only me, Rory and Dave would be in the house for that ) But they're so cooooool

    have fun

    Save the leprechauns

I'm only on a 56k modem and they don't cause me any problems. Of course, I would say that wouldn't I?

I am, unfortunately, accessing temporarily by dial-up. My cable service has gone flaky again.

Animated icons don't take any more bandwidth once they have been copied to your local cache. It is the new graphics that cause the problem.

    We'll see, we'll see...
If people keep it restrained there may well be no need for anything drastic.

    Re: Save the leprechauns

Many of us clear out the temporary files after when we close IE as that seems to make IE more stable. So the icons get reloaded each time we access the lounge.

Gosh, you really are a mom:

We'll see, we'll see...

Next you'll be saying, "Put that down, you'll poke your eye out !" Incidentally, I've nothing against leprechauns, or Guinness for the matter. Some of my best friends are leprechauns (usually appear after several Guiness)

    Re: Animation

i just found this lounge from the access one. can one 'copy' the emoticons and use in regular life-like Word docs or email? if yes, how would one do that? i think they are cute and am envious of those who know how to use them.

Right click on the and choose Save Image as (in NS) or Save Picture As (in IE) and you're good to go.
