HELP - Project is Unviewable! (EXCEL2000)

I just loaded back one of my own (!!!) EXCEL sheets (in EX2000). I KNOW the password (because it's mine)... problem is that when I click on the project in VBE, I get "Project is Unviewable" and I'm never prompted for my password.... Anyone with clue ??? Please.... I must get to my code!!

    HELP!

I think this only happens to xl5 workbooks that are saved with a password or as an add-in. Could you get hold of xl5, open it there and remove the password?

I never use(d) XL5... Just tried this in EX97... regretfully with the same result.

Do you still think EX5 could help?

SOLVED.... did some searching on the Internet... Finally got to this one:
    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q211/7/92.ASP>http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar...s/Q211/7/92.ASP</A>
edited to add hyperlink - WebGenii
Basically, if a WB is shared, you cannot edit the VB-code.

Now here's the trick... my WB was NOT (repeat, NOT) shared nor had it ever been (I don't use this functionality, is it nice? Anybody who uses it?)....
Still, I shared it and then un-shared it... now my VB code is readable again....

Looks like a bit was (re-)set...

I know you've solved this problem (with a solution that I'll keep in the back of my mind) but I wanted to add my encounter with this error too (for others reading these posts for same error).

I have projects in both xl97 and xl2000 and have to make sure they work in both versions. I freaked myself badly one day when I got the same Project Unviewable when trying to see the code in xl97. It turned out that I had protected it from w/in xl2000 and the password algorithm is different for xl97 so I couldn't unprotect it in there. I had to unprotect the code in xl2000 then open it in xl97. I was in a panic as I had to fix some code and thought the project was corrupted. Yikes!!

    Erik Jan,

As Deb said, protected code in a 'newer' Excel version is unviewable in a previous version. e.g. protecting your code in xl2000 will be unviewable in xl97. I don't know about XP.

Thanks for finding out this solution. I also had the same situation. Your Share/Unshare solution worked. A possible clue here is that I have this xls file running under autotask every morning, and auto_open involves code that at the end, saves the workbook. I may have "cross-opened" it somehow.

    Anyway, thanks again.
