Printing from a NT 4.0 Print Server
I have Windows XP installed on my machine on the office network. We have Windows NT4.0 workstation on all other desktops. I would like to print to our HP 8000N printers which are on our network.
Here's the problem: I can't install the correct drivers for XP because HP's XP drivers are only compatible with Windows XP and 2000, not with NT 4.0 I wanted to install the drivers locally on just my machine, but I don't get that option. I've attached a screenshot of the error message I receive when I try to add the printer. The Canon printer gave me the chance to install my XP drivers locally. I was able to install a few other printers (two small HP's and a big Canon), but I can't figure out how to install the 8000's.
If I could even get the printer server to recognize an XP box, I could put the drivers on there, but I don't even have a place or an easily visible way to add XP drivers (the most recent drivers listed on the server would be for NT 4.0). Any suggestions?
