    Print History (IE 5.5, SP2)

    Is it possible to print out the contents IE History? I don't see a print option in the History pane on the left side, and I'd rather not use a screen shot. Has anyone had a need to do this and found a solution?

    Re: Print History (IE 5.5, SP2)

    I found this at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.onecomputerguy.com/ie_tips.htm>OneComputerGuy</A>:
    <hr>
    Adding a History Icon to your Desktop (IE5)

    Right-click on an open area of the desktop
    Select New / Folder.
    Type the name, as shown: History.{FF393560-C2A7-11CF-BFF4-444553540000}
    The icon will be replaced by the History icon
    <hr>
    Then you need to find some software that will print the contents of the folder - I'm fairly certain I've seen some suggestions in either the Software or General Windows forums.

    If you get Karen's PrintDir from <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.karenware.com>http://www.karenware.com</A> you can print it out by working your way down to the History folder.

    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    PrintDir is the utility I use but it doesn't seem to work in this situation. If I open C:windowshistory and right click, the browse window in PrintDir shows history.IE5. Double clicking this folder shows many subfolders that all start with MSHist01.... Printing any of those folders shows just 1 file, index.dat. Perhaps I'm missing something but the history you see on screen doesn't seem to be in a format that allows it to be printed. I'm still trying to find a solution and am open to suggestions.

    I've spent a good deal of time searching around for this and I can't find it. (I found a neat program called CacheX, but it's not what you're looking for.) It does seem possible that MS has removed the APIs to access the history list for privacy/security reasons: the documentation for the IE 4.x version of the WebBrowser control (an object in SHDocVw.dll) refers to access to the history list, but the IE 5.5/Windows 2000 version doesn't seem to have any way to get at it.

    It seems like a simple enough request, but if 3 WMVP's can't solve this then maybe it's unsolvable? I'll keep trying, maybe I'll stumble across a solution.
