Crummy colors/resolution on shortcut bar (2002)

On my new laptop (running winXP) I have all the display settings set to the highest qualily. The colors and resolution are great on my computer, EXCEPT on the Office toolbar. It's as if the toolbar can only display 8 colors. I can't figure out how to improve the quality of the icons and it makes it difficult to figure out what the icons are (especially icons for explorer and notepad). Any ideas?

Unfortunately, this is the way it is. On ALL WindowsXP/OfficeXP machines Office Shortcut Bar icons looks wierd (except Office icons, of course).

Well that stinks! I already spent a good amount of time trying out how to fix it. And it wasn't even my fault.

And the number for the MMPA is......? lol
