    Default Language (Word 2K, SR1)

Having just reinstalled Office 2k onto a new XP system I find I cannot change the default language. When I change the default language it asks if I want all new docs based on normal to use the English(UK) language I click OK , but it always goes to English (US). The status bar shows English (US) all the time.

I am using XP pro as an administrator. I have tried the language settings from the start menu.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks,

    Simon

Have you set the language to English (UK) in your default template (I'm assuming normal.dot)?

    Hope that helps.

Congratulations, Simon, you have found one of Microsoft's rats nests. Unfortunately, no one at Redmond speaks anything but English and they don't speak that very well. They had this

    Thanks, for the response.

The box to select this is "greyed out" - What do I need to do?

Also I dont remenber having this problem prior to WiN XP - is it related?

    Thanks,

    Simon
