    Screwy Hypertext Link (6.00.2600)

Many of the e-mail messages I receive contain an underlined hypertext link to a web page. When I click on this link, nothing happens. Well, actually, something does happen -- I hear the sound of a ricocheting bullet, but I am not taken to the web page. The only way I can get to the page is to copy the URL in the underlined link and paste it into the address window in Internet explorer. If the underlined link does not contain the actual URL, I am out of luck. This problem appeared only three days ago. Before that OE worked great. I can think of nothing I did to cause this business to start. Any ideas, anyone?

With "I hear the sound of a ricocheting bullet", I would say that some thine has set the hotlink properties to a wave file that has this sound effect.

Check to see what is listed in the "Files Types" pane, for the WAV extension and what program is set for the different URL:????? files types.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Thanks for the tip, Dave, but I'm not enough of a windows lounge lizard to decipher it.

What and where is the "files types" pane? I looked in all the OE menus, in the OE Help Index, and I even did a Search on "files types", all to no avail.

What good is knowing the WAV extension going to do me?

I'm baffled by your last phrase "what program is set for the different URL????? files types."

Can you give me a few hints?

Sorry, Leif, but there's no way I can get to "this post". All I get when I click on it a the ricocheting bullet sound. I can see no other way to bring it up.

The files type pane is in Windows Explorer (My Computer), under 'Tools, Folder Options' and the select the Files Type tab.

Thanks Dave, I'll look it up next Saturday when I get my computer back on line.
