outlook/exchange via winME vpn

our employees are allowed to access the ms exchange server 5.5 via vpn. mail client is outlook 2000. an employee purchased a new pc loaded with windows me and office 2000. she cannot successfully attach to the exchange server via her DSL connection. old pc with win98/outlook 98 connected fine over the same dsl. she brought the new pc to the office, it will connect to server via local ethernet. the variable seems to be the vpn connection. exchange will prompt her for user/pw/domain, but never successfully logs on. any ideas?

    Re: outlook/exchange via winME vpn

When you say she connected fine before upgrading, was she on VPN before or was she using RAS?

I had the same issue when trying to install VPN to office... After weeks of head-banging, I called my ISP. BINGO! They are incompatible. They went into technobabble I didn't really understand , so I'm sorry I won't be able to explain why.

vpn was successfully used on the same dsl connection before the upgrade. the only real variable appears to be windows me (and subsequent vpn connection running on me)as opposed to the old machine using windows 98se.
