    Keyboard method to drag range of cells (Excel 97)

    I don't know the correct terminology, but this is what I want to do:

    When you highlight a range of cells, the lower right corner is a little cross. If you hover over that little cross, the pointer changes to another larger cross. If you then drag the range, you duplicate the existing range in the new selection. If there are numbers, they automatically increment.

    Once I have highlighted the range, is there any way I can achieve the above result from the keyboard??

    I don't think so, and this is called AutoFill. But you can emulate it by Copy and Paste and using the Shift key and the arrows to select the range before you paste. Or use Edit|Fill which is ALT+E and the i and then by whatever direction you want to go, but you need to select the range first.
