    Reports (97)

    <img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15> I am working with a report that has a page header and what should be a report header. The report header should print on the first page of the report, above detail information but under the page header. Any ideas how I can get this to work? Sort of like in Word or Excel where you have a page header that appears on each page but then you might also have another header in the body of the work itself.

    Any ideas, anyone?

    Thanks!

    I think Access reports work the other way if I recall. Report Headers are the first thing that prints, and then page headers print next, and at the top of each subsequent page - I don't have Access 97 available at the moment to verify that, but I'm reasonably sure. In any event they are rather different than Word or Excel documents. You can also specify that the page header not print on the page with the Report Header. The same is true of the Page Footer. Hope this helps.

    A report header prints once, at the top of the report. A page header prints below the report header and at the top of each subsequent page. I think what you're looking for is a Group Header, which will appear whenever the value if the field or fields being grouped on changes.

    To put what Charlotte says in practice, add a column to the query under the report.
    As field enter <pre>HDR:=1</pre>

    In the report, Group on HDR and make the header for the group visible.
    Enter your Report header into the group header.
    As the field is 1 for all the records, it will only be printed once, and as it is a group header, it will be printed under the page header.
