    Seeing Footnotes (97)

On my office machine and my main home machine, when I put the mouse cursor over a footnote reference, it shows the footnote in a yellow bubble over the text. My new (actually used) machine I just started using does not do that. I've been through the help and Tools/Options and cannot figure out how to turn this on. Does anyone remember how?

It's Tools, Options, View tab, Screen Tips. The right-click help for the screen tips option only refers to comments, but I think it also controls the pop-up for footnote references, author of tracked changes, etc.

I had tried that when I was trying to figure it out and it had not worked. However, I had left the box checked and when I went back, it was working. After some experimenting, I realized that this is the setting but it does not take effect immediately. You must exit Word and restart before it works.

    Thanks
