Turn off Command Menu Bar completely (Win2K, Access2K)

We are working on a form where we would like to turn off the command menu bar completely. We can do it by making the form a pop-up, but that causes problems with other forms that are opened from that form. We can assign an illegal toolbar to the form, which gives us a completely blank menu bar, except for the control boxes, all of which we can turn off but the restore button, but we can't actually make it disappear so we can use just a toolbar in place of a menu bar. Does anybody have any insights that might help us? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Wendell,

This suggestion assumes that I use the same terminology that you do: Menu bar = File, Edit, View, etc...

An idea would be to place your buttons and the like on a newly created Menu bar (instead of the menus). Then assign it as the form's Menu Bar (without any assigned toolbar).

I hope I understand what menu you mean ......

This line will remove the Main Menu Bar

    DoCmd.ShowToolbar "Menu Bar", acToolbarNo

Just use "acToolbarYes" argument to make it appear again.

Well done! We had butted heads on a problem related to this for several days - and this very neatly solves it and eliminates a bunch of API calls and other stuff to get around problems with modality and pop-up windows. Thanks so much - sometimes it's hard to see a tree in the forest for all the trees, or something like that!

I have also created custom menu bars for a person depending on their login id. Example: I remove DB Admin commend items from normal users.
