    Windows XP peer-to-peer

I have problems with peer-to-peer networking with computers running windows 98. Most of them can connect with the computer running WinXP Pro--some can't. Is there anyplace to get troubleshooting advice?

We put an Access2000 backoffice database on it, and the users cannot open the the linked tables. It says we need permission to view their data. If we copy that data base onto a machine running Win98SE, it works fine. Is there some security feature that I'm missing?

Are you getting an error message? What is the error message text?

Could be related to the connectivity problem. Is this happening across the board to everyone? Do all users have read/write access? Are you using ODBC to connect to the database?

    Re: Windows XP peer-to-peer

These are two separate problems. The ones that can't connect are just not seen in the Neighborhood Network.

The database problem is we can see the tables and link them, but when we try to open them we are getting this message: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'GarySharedDocsInvoiceArchives.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

On the ODBC, I don't think so. When the computer with the data tables is running on Win98SE, then it works fine, but on when it is put onto an XP machine, others can't seemly don't have permission to view the data.
