    Shutdown Problem

    Windows 98
running windows 98 on 20 different DEll PIII 800s 256 meg of ram. The problem is windows doesn't shut down. I have installed all patches microsoft has put out but the new dells don't shut down. You get the screen telling you its shutting down but thats it. Users go home, come in screen is still there they have to turn the computer off and on again and go through scan disk. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Pife

    Re: Shutdown Problem

THE authority on shutdown problems is Jim Eshelman:

There's a useful set of tips available from Jim Eshelman
http://members.xoom.com/_XMCM/Khephra/index.htm; the shutdown article is at http://members.xoom.com/Khephra/a/shtdwnse.htm
    or http://members.xoom.com/Khephra/shutdown.htm
    that you can try.

As a last resort, there is a shutdown patch that you can download at http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloa...8SE/Default.asp

    Hope this helps.
