fields - MergeFormat change to CHARFormat

    W97

When inserting fields into document Word inserts as default MERGEFORMAT.
However you can change MERGEFORMAT to CHARFORMAT & amend the formatting of that particular field.

I havent used since W6 - so can anyone please tell me the process to do this.
    TIA Diana

    Hi Diana:

If you show field codes (Alt+F9), you can use Find/Replace to replace the word MERGEFORMAT with CHARFORMAT. The
{Fieldname * Charformat} switch formats the resulting text the way the first character in the field is formatted (in the above case, it would be the "F" in "Fieldname". I hope that's what you're looking for.
