    Chart Update (97)

I have a bar chart that shows the satisfaction levels recorded by people. Is there a simple way of including on this chart the sample size. This would be preferable in the legend title. I know the address within the spreadsheet that the sample size is kept, but don't know how to automate its display on the chart while keeping the information which has been collected in tact.

    Thanks for your help

    How about doing something like:

    1) Make your chart.
    2) Then add a Textbox control from the Drawing Toolbar.
    3) Select this control, and in the formula bar you can use something like: =Sheet1!$J$1 where J1 on sheet 1 will have your sample size info.

I don't know if this is of help:
First possibility: add the contents of a cell to the title
    1) make your chart
    2) add a title using the chart options >> title tool
    3) click the title on the chart and then enter the equal sign in the textbox of the commandbar, next to Chart Title and select the cell where the title is written down
Second possibility: add the sample size to the legend
    1) make your chart
    2) click the series
    3) in the commandbar, immediately before the first comma, enter the words you want or select a cell with the contents you want to be displayed in the legend

Angus, you can plot the data as two series: 1) satisfaction & 2) sample size. Select the sample size series by selecting the sample size bar and use the Format | Selected Data Series to:
    1) Axis tab -- Plot series on secondary axis
    2) Patterns tab

    Re: Chart Update (97)

Thanks for the suggestions. I used Wassim's suggestion in the end as I had a number of graphs being generated from results given by the sample set and it was a matter of cutting and pasting the two text boxes, one for the sample size words and the other for the cell reference, into the other graphs. Couldn't get the text box to accept the Words "SAMPLE SIZE" prior to the cell reference.

    Cheers

    Angus
