Unread flags misbehaving

Since approx 14:00 GMT Wednesday my unread flags have been acting up. At the controls level they show correctly, but if I go into a forum they have not cleared after the last time I visited that forum. I've deleted my cookies and logged back in. The probelem remains. Is anyone else having this problem or should I try deleteing my cookies again?

and I thought it was just picking on me But mine has been doing it for several days. Actually ever since I changed to the Blue Skin. I just ignore 'em--easier than tossing your cookies. (sorry I have been dying for a chance to use that line)

I have had a few other reports of the problem. I have not been able to reproduce the problem (yet). Best I can do so far is keep an eye on the problem.

The new flags are one of the trickiest areas of the Lounge software and depend on information in the mySql database PLUS status information in cookies.

Fair enough. It is confusing when the flags go doolally but I'm aware that they are a complicated area, so the following is purely to assist you. I've redone the cookie delete thing and still no joy. Main Index and controls show correctly, but watched threads on the control panel and forum views are definately munged. as are the flags within threads. They seem to reset correctly between visits to the lounge about 2/3rds of the time at the thread level, and always at the watched threads level. If anything changes I'll let you know.

Just as a matter of interest, do you log out each time you leave the Lounge?

Absolutely never. And I've never had the problem in the past, but at your suggestion and before replying to you, I logged out and back in. It would appear that the problem has gone away. I obviously had to log back in once I'd deleted my cookies but that didn't actually involve me logging out. Well spotted/guessed/whatever - I'll see what happens over the next few hours and keep you posted.

I've noticed myself that by logging in and out each visit, my flags are very, very close to being correct, however they do get messed every once in a while.

    Brooke:

You should not need to delete your cookies unless things are really scrod.

Logging out explicitly resets the critical sections of the Lounge cookie. In addition, a change I put in this week detects most gross cookie corruption and forces an automatic reset to the Logout state.

    Noted.

As an FYI, since logging out I have had no problems at all.

Must you use the term "gross cookie corruption"? It makes me think that someone has thrown up on my hard drive.

I'll start logging off, as I also have experienced this behavior, which I had attributed to my accessing from two machines (and I formerly never logged off either of them).
