XP Pro and Optimization

Hello again folks. I recently did a clean install of XP Pro on a AMD 1700 with a 40 gig HD. I also installed NSW 2002 because I've always had success with NSW on my old machine, the problem is the optimization, or defragmentation, won't hold. Even when my machine sat mostly unused while I nursed my flu episode it continued to fragment. I've reset the alarm to 85% and it still gets there in about five days, and this isn't even heavy use. Could the DSL have some bearing on this?

To reduce the fragmentation level consider to convert your partition to NTFS (a small bonus of this operation: more available space because of reducing cluster size).

    Re: XP Pro and Optimization

I made the decision to go with NTFS on install, and just checked to make sure. Now what? I seem to be slipping 3 to 4 % fragmentation a day and I haven't event begun to start using this machine seriously yet.
