only if you select the public folder first then create the contact. the PF can't be set as the default for saves though.

you will need proper create permissions on the folder too

Re: Is it possible

So it is possible ? I am greatly heartened !!!
I have selected the Public Folder using Namespace.pickfolder to get the public folder. I created the folder so have complete permissions to the folder.
What do you mean by 'cant be set as default for saves' ?
How do i put the items into the public folder if not by saving them ?

what i meant was: if you are reading mail in the inbox and decide to make a contact, it will save to the default folder - the contacts folder in your mailbox. no way to change that, except by going to the public folder and creating the contact after opening the public folder you want it saved in.

Re: Is it possible

Sorry, i may have not been too clear in my first question.
I am writing code in Access to export contact details to a public folder.
Currently i have to create the contact and save it in the private folder then move it to the public folder. If i try to create the item directly into the public folder i get an error. (unsure what now as i have had to release the app to the user) If it is possible to create directly to the public folder then i will re-issue the app with streamlined code !
sorry for the confusion

doing it via code should work. you need to work your way down to the public folder. see http://www.slipstick.com for some ideas.

what error are you getting with it?

Re: Is it possible

Found a piece of code that does it!!!!!
YEEHAA
go to http://www.helenfeddema.com
then go to downloads and get code49.zip
this baby sends contact items from an access db to any (yes ANY) folder.
I also found out that the Nz function exists, how many lines of code have i written to avoid returning nulls?
All i need to do now is dig into the code to put the necessary changes in.
Thank you Helen Feddema
