MS Office Document Imaging (Office XP (all))

MS Office Document Imaging makes tiff files which contain multiple document images and text resulting from its attempt to OCR each document after it is scanned.

I want to file all my 'never throw away' domestic paperwork on a CD with a viewer program. Paint Shop Pro 5 fails to read about half of my tiff files, saying "An invalid Huffman code was encountered". The rest are fine.

Does anybody know an independent viewer program that I could use?

Possibly Office generates noncompliant TIFF files?

Microsoft Photo Editor should open TIFF files. I have Office Developer 2000; I'm not sure what versions (if any) of XP include this program, or whether it has been integrated into something else.

I use an IE plug-in called AlternaTIFF. I can't recall whether it also is a stand-alone program.

    Thanks for the idea.

Microsoft Photo Editor also fails with some of the files. ("Can't open file"). Anyway, each file holds many scanned images and MS Photo Editor only opens the first one. At least PaintSho Pro opens all of the images in the files that it can open.
