IE 5.5 Windows Update Page Not Working (IE 5.5 SP2)

My hard drive was re-formatted, and I updated IE 5.5 to SP 2 yesterday. Now when I go to the Windows Update Page, clicking on product updates doesn't work. It's like JavaScript is turned off or something. I can't figure out where to turn it back on (and can't find anything in the MS Knowledge Base). Anybody else have this problem and know what to do about it??

    Thx.

    -Rich.

Re: IE 5.5 Windows Update Page Not Working (IE 5.5 SP2)

    There are several possible causes:

    1. Check does Microsoft (http://*.microsoft.com) on the list of Trusted Sites (Tools | Internet Options | Security | Trusted Sites | Sites button) ?

    2. Empty IE cache (Tools | Internet Options | General | Delete Files button).

    3. Clear your Temporary Internet Files and History and Remove the CV3 Class Control (Q243787).

    4. The Visual Basic Scripting Support (VBScript) component failed to install properly on Internet Explorer (Q193701).

    5. WINUP-Problems When Viewing or Downloading From Windows Update (Q193385)

I hope it can help to solve your problem

I've had the same problem on 2 XP-Home machines with IE 6; these ideas look very promising for them, too!
