    Recycle Bin

Anytime I delete anything to my recycle bin, everything freezes up and I have to manually restart my puter. Also, when my pc is scanning through files, such as loading my new norton, it gets stuck on the file recyclebin/desktop. Did I accidentlly delete an important file? If I did, How do I know what I need to correct this problem. It's very frustrating having to shut down(which seems to take forever) just to get everything running smooth again.

Make sure that you run a thorough scandisk. I doubt that you deleted a critical file, so much as you are experiencing some of what ME is known for along with some errors on the disk.

What happens if you adjust the recycle bin's properties - such as the percentage of each drive used? Does it balk at that? Do you have the Norton Protected Recycle Bin or any additional software that might interfere with its operation?

    Re: Recycle Bin

I did run a scandisk, no luck. I've ran ME for quite some time now and this just started a few weeks ago. I just installed my new norton 2002. So I do have norton protected recycle bin now. But this was happening before I installed that. I also cleaned out my startup. I was only running at 65%. How do I check the % of each drive used? I looked and couldnt figure that out. PLEASE HELP.

    Re: Recycle Bin

Open up My Computer, right_click on each drive.

    Edited to add
Sorry, that's amount of space used generally.

Right_click on the Recycle Bin and select Properties. What does it show?

    Re: Recycle Bin

Is it showing you've used that much, or you can use up to a maximum of 10%?
Try changing it to 15% and see if you can access it.

    Re: Recycle Bin

It just says Maximum size of recycle bin (Percentage of each drive). I changed it to 15%. Is there anything else I need to do?

    Re: Recycle Bin

Yes, I can delete to it. After it askes me if I want to delete this item, I click yes and the progress bar comes up and it will delete it, but the progress bar will stay up until I click cancel. But if I try to delete anything else, it freezes up and wont let me click anything. Also, when I click start-shutdown, I have to wait 2-3 mins before my shutdown prompt will comeup. Then I still have to eventually just shut it off at my powersurge cuz I just get a black screen. Are you thining I'm just gonna have to reformat??

    Re: Recycle Bin

I am able to delete items in my recycle bin, and I only had 25 files in it. I am using the Norton 2002. Just installed it. This problem was happening before I installed it.

    Re: Recycle Bin

It's after I delete items to the recycle bin that it freezes up. I can empty the recycle bin no problem. I dont know what else to try.
