    Visio & VBA

We have a 'proprietary' program that uses Visio to design systems. It includes lots of 'smart stencils'. I have it running on my work computer (1.4ghz, Win2k) but am having problems running it at home (933mhz, WinME).
The problem seems to be that Visio can not intialize the VBA, or so says the message when I try to edit things I have placed on the drawing. I have downloaded the MS dcom98 file and installed it, even though most of my files seemed to be up to date. This had no effect. On reccomendation from the author, I also downloaded the mdac checker and it found nothing to update. Everything was current.
Now we are stuck ! Everyone has run out of ideas. I am open for suggestions as to why the VBA won't run.
    Anyone ?
    Thanks, Tim

You didn't explain which version of Visio you're using or what version(s) of Office you may have installed on the several machines. Also what service packs, if any, you have on your operating systems.

    Re: Visio & VBA

Sorry Charlotte. I am running Visio 5.0C. The program is not quite ready for Visio2002 yet. I would run it on Visio 2000 but I can not find a copy anywhere. My Office version is O2k, SP2 I believe. This is the home configuration. The work config is the same except under windows 2000.

    Re: Visio & VBA

I can't really help because I don't have any version on my latest machine (it's a long story: I can't find the prior version Disk 1 and don't have the serial number for it--it was written on the page of the manual I sent in for a rebate--so I can't get Visio 2k to install on this machine). However, Visio 5 was the last version before Microsoft acquired a major interest in it, so I'm not too surprised that you're having trouble mixing it with Office 2k. Visio 5 was built based on VBA 4 or 5 and it may need a runtime library that doesn't exist under O2k, which was based on VBA 6, as is Visio 2002.

In earlier versions of Visio, if you opened a document created with a later (compatible) version, you would see the same behavior--the VBA programs would not be accessible and there would be no macro menu. I'm afraid you may not be able to wait to convert this to the latest version of Visio. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
