    LinkSys Router & ZA

When I began the installation of DSL, I had problems and the ISP told me to un-install Zone Alarm because they have had problems with it. I did like being able to know what programs are trying to get in and out.
I have 3 computers on my network (1-Win98, 2- WinME). All computers can get to the internet through the router and gateway. My question is: should I re-install the ZA ?
One more question, if I may: I also run a remote control program (NetOp, Guest & Host) and was wondering if anyone out there has successfully connected to another computer over the internet ?
    Share your thoughts ?

    Re: LinkSys Router & ZA

I am using a Linksys router also which came with a fire wall built in. It does the prupose of not answering pings ( a ping request falls into a black hole) plus blocks all the ports I have not actively set to open. I have heard that Zone Alarm pro can be confiquired to run with this set up but not the free version. Sorry I do not know about your other question at all.

    Re: LinkSys Router & ZA

    Tim,
I use linksys, Zone Alarm Pro-WinXP-Dell 8200, Zone Alarm2 (freeware)-Win98 2nd ed_old home built pentium 233. I use a cable modem for my net access. I have never had any problems with Zone Alarm. I do have the Za pro and Linksys configured to work together. Zone Alarm 2 runs fine on my wifes computer in this config but as soon as we can afford it I will upgrade her to Pro also. Personally I see no reason you should not reinstall ZA. I have friends that have used it on dsl with no problems. I rarely get any alerts now that I'm behind the routers firewall but occasionally one pops up. I have found that ZA occasionaly blocks access to one of the services in windows XP but it does not effect my surfing. Hope this helps a little. :>
