    DOSKEY in Win XP

Anybody know what I'm missing - I can't get the version of DOSKEY that comes with Win XP to perform as it should. That is, the up arrow is supposed to recall commands and doesn't do so. I use a command prompt window to execute CHKDSK on the three drives in this machine before backing up, and it would be nice to be able to use either DOSKEY or the "old" F1 or F3 repeat keys to save a few typing strokes.

    Thanx,
    Al

I believe the answer is to open your DOS window by running
    cmd.exe
as opposed to the default command.com which is the automatic 'Command Prompt'

Thank you, Leif! Evidently DOSKEY runs by default when you execute CMD. Good deal.....
