I know I can delete files from word...but how do i get them to disappear from the file list. when you click on file and it shows the files you have opened. and also on the right side it lists them also. how can i get rid of them. I dragged a file from my partition drive and dropped it to my desk top, opened it from desk top and deleted it. know i have it in my file list and it tells me i cant open it no more. how can i fix this problem. Thank You Jon

    Jon-
If you delete a file, it is gone. Even though you have deleted it, it will continue to show up in the two areas you mention until you have opened up more files and the deleted file drops off the lists. Think of those areas as just a holding area, a reminder of the last "X" number of files you have worked on. As you indicate, if you have deleted (or renamed) a file you will not be able to open it. You cannot edit those lists.

    Hi Jon:
You're referring to the MRU file list (most recently used). You can delete entries from this menu by pressing Alt+Ctrl+minus sign (above the P). Your cursor will turn into a thick minus sign. Then you can click on the file menu & then on the filename that you wish to delete. You can use the same technique for any menu.

    Hi Maine:
See my post above. Items in the list can be deleted.

    Phil-
Didn't know that! I have never been overly concerned about deleted/renamed files showing in the the MRU. It is always a good day when you learn something new!
