Why do my recurring items disappear if edited? (Outlook 2000 (Original))

<img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15> I've made no system changes, but suddenly, whenever I edit ANY single recurring appointment in my calendar, ALL recurring items (birthdays, anniversaries, appointments, etc.) just disappear in a flash! I've made certain that ALL views are RESET to "default" -- NO JOY! I've run SFC & everything appears to be OK. I have a backup of my .pst, but every time I replace the current file, the same thing just happens again. Must I completely re-install Office to fix this, or is there (he asks, hopefully) an easier solution that someone can think of? Any help would be very much appreciated -- bad time of year for this to hit my calendar! TIA Phil

You might try starting outlook with the /CleanFreeBusy and the /CleanReminders switches. Might be a long shot, but it's easier than uninstall/reinstall.

To do this, determine the path to your Outlook.exe. Then go to Start | Run, enter the path, followed by a space, followed by one of the switches. On many systems the path is c:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeOutlook.exe
