    Location of archive (Office 2000)

    Hi

I've changed the location of my PST and archive files. Now Outlook can't find the archive. I've changed the settings in Tools/Options, but that only applies to folders created in the future.

Is there a quick way of changing the archive location for all the (many) folders I've created in the past?

    Thanks
    Dale

I'm not sure I'm answering your question, but if you click on File | Archive, you can select the location in the "Archive file:" located at the bottome of the dialog box. This is for Outlook on a personal computer (not using Exchange server).

Re: Location of archive (Office 2000)

I think File/Archive is for manually initiating an archive.

But each folder has its own setting (which you change via "Right-click/Properties/AutoArchive"), and these are used during the auto-archive process. I'm trying to find a way of quickly changing these folder-level settings.

    Thanks for the suggestion

It does appear that, although you can effectively migrate the default *.pst location, the default archive location does not automatically follow along. It also appears that there is no clear way that you can cleanly access this property through code. (At least I have not yet seen anything in the Object Model that points there.)

Conceivably, there may be some little known Registry hack that could help (such as the one where you can change the Temp folder for opening attachments). There's an MS item dated March 2000, however, which suggests to me that a global change may not yet be possible. HTH

Thanks. I feared as much. Oh, well, it'll only take an hour. Thanks, Mr Gates.

You know he fixed it in XP though Dale?

There is an 'apply these settings to all folders now' option.

I know that doesn't help right now though.
