Events stretching over several days (2000)

    Hi,
A colleague is having a problem with Outlook events. (Note: he's also using a Palm Pilot; he doesn't recall having the problem before using the Palm.) A number of events that he had set up as one-day events are now spread over several days. Example: a person's birthday, set up as a yearly recurring one-day event, is stretched over 2 days. (March 15 and 16, for example). The problem also happens with some holidays, e.g., Valentine's Day is showing as a 2-day event (Feb. 14 and 15). Ditto for several other events (non-recurring) that are scheduled for one day - they're stretched over several.

This is very alarming to him because he's no longer sure of the dates of certain events. Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

Could the time zones on the two devices be different? An all day event runs from 12:00 AM on the designated day through 12:00AM on the next day. Shift that forward by an hour, say, and you get a 2-day event that looks like this:

My belated thanks for this suggestion. I checked with the user but the time zone is the same on both machines. Do you have any other ideas/suggestions (short of reinstalling Outlook)? Thanks.

Recently, I had a client with a similar problem. For some reason, her "all-day" events started at 8:00am on one day and ended at 8:00am the next. When I changed it from 12:00 to 12:00 it was okay. However, I don't know how the 8:00am happened in the first place.

at one time or another, the time zones were wrong. If palms are like pocket pc's, it came with it set on a TZ and the user needs to change it. (PPCs use -8 TZ, just like all windows OSs)

Reinstalling Outlook won't do a bit of good, it's not the program, it's the clock. You could try copying the pst to a cdr, then changing the clock and setting up a new profile, then bringing the pst back, but i think some TZ info is in the pst and it will still be off.

The standard fix is to change the computer time zone so the appt are the correct time and export them, then change the computer so it's the right time and import them back.
