Is there a way to make all IE 6.0 windows always open up already maximized? Robert Storms

I would need some more time to verify my answer, but it is my recollection that the answer is no. I think the best you can do is open IE in a "nearly" maximzed "Restore" frame. I will look into this more later.

If you were to do a search on "Maximize" here at the Lounge you will find MANY threads about this subject.
For starters here are a few from the list:<font color=red>

Is there an answer in there somewhere? Dave, I don't think everyone is as adept as you are at using the Search function -- besides Robert is a new member. By the way, welcome to the Lounge Robert!
______________

That's funny, I see my name on that list twice, but the "Small E-mail Windows" thread is really not about this topic.

Again, my recollection is that the answer is no. Without searching throught the archives or doing further research, I believe that is the correct answer. If I am mistaken, somebody please chide and admonish me for my laziness!

The answer is YES all you have to do is resize the windows to the size you want by dragging the corners , DO NOT use the MAXimize button, and do a File close. DO NOT use the X box in the upper right corner to close.

Re: Open IE Windows Maximized (IE 6.0.2600)

Well, just to be annoying -- if you are dragging corners, then by definition you are not using a "Maximized" window. As I said in my first post:

I think the best you can do is open IE in a "nearly" maximzed "Restore" frame.

So, you can approximate a Maximized window, but you cannot set up IE to "Start Maximized". Could we agree on this?

Don't take it serious. Have a good week end.

Re: Open IE Windows Maximized (IE 6.0.2600)

I have always found this works. As Dave says manually resize a window to the size you want. For example sometimes I want to manipulate windows around diffently from the way cascading does. Then to get them to open full sized or any other size after you manually resize them (if you don't manually resize them it won't work unless you
for less than full; for full you can use the icon on the name bar) kill the window making sure to hold down the Ctrl key when you kill it. The gentleman who started the Windows XP resize thread says it doesn't work for him but this tip has always worked for me on any machine and with any Windows OS flavor including XP and its Betas. Anytime I have seen a suggestion that Windows automatically remembers a size you set without doing the above I have found that
not to hold up.
