wordbasic problems office xp (Office XP)

I have one old template, like me, occasionaly useful, that I trot out from time to time. Haven't trotted since XP came out, and am wondering who/what have encountered problems in Word that comes with OfficeXP when faced with old WordBasic. commands?

This morning I fired up my Win98/OfficeXP system and ran the code for a few seconds. Nothing untoward.

Anyone out there walking perilously close to the edge?

As far as I know, most if not all Wordbasic commands are still supported in XP. I do recall one incident where the wordbasic @#$!% out and the word on the street was it was no longer supported. But it escapes me what the deal was. I other words, I've been absolutely no help to you.

Why, Howard? WordBasic has been outdated since Office 95. Rants seem like a waste of energy over it. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

There are still one or two WordBasic functions that have no equivalent in VBA. The one I use occasionally is WordBasic.MoveText since it allows me to move text from one place in a Word document to another without over-writing the paste buffer.

If you look at the help for "Visual Basic Equivalents for WordBasic Commands" then you will see many others for which the suggested replacement is WordBasic.xxx

... ah, but not as big a waste of energy when people like me stumble across old templates.

Being forewarned of potential pitfalls can save HOURS of head-banging.

    Read and duly noted. Thanks.

My original code in WordBasic was not the best. Migration to VBA seemed to make it even more unreadable.

I have, therefore, started re-writing from scratch this, my earliest Word application!
