    James,

Something to try is dimensioning this way:
    Dim db as DAO.Database

This indicates explicitly that you are using the Data Access Objects Library

As well, open up a Module and select Tools|References.
You should see "Microsoft DAO x.xx Object library" checked.
(Unless you are using ADODB of course)

    Regards,

    Carl

    Re: Automation error

We actually have a lot of them here is our list. The crazy thing is that I compressed the data base and now it works. Maybe I panicked a little to soon. If you know of any of these that may be unstable or something please let me know.

    VISUAL BASIC FOR APPLICATIONS

    MICROSOFT ACCESS 8.0 OBJECT LIBRARY

    OLE AUTOMATION

    MICROSOFT FORMS 2.0 OBJECT LIBRARY

    MICROSOFT DAO 3.5/OBJECT LIBRARY

    MICROSOFT CALENDAR CONTROLE LIBRARY 8.0

    MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 8.0 OBJECT LIBRARY

    VISIO 5.0 TYPE LIBRARY

    Thanks Rory & Carl
