Styles and tags (XP)

In FrontPage you can enter text as in Word and choose styles from the Styles drop-down. You can also code in HTML using tags to define styles.

The Heading 1 style is represented by the H1 tag, etc.

But what are other styles represented by in HTML? How can one define or find out this info?

Actually, I'm not clear on the question. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I will comment however, that the style list displays a couple of tags that are depreciated - which means that new browsers will not be forced to support them. I'm thinking of the Directory list and the Menu list tags which are being dropped because of redundancy. There are some other tags that FP still uses elsewhere that are also depreciated.

So try rephrasing the question and I'll try again!

What I'm trying to say is as follows:

Ultimately tags are used to render Web pages. The Style drop-down lists provides styles to make page production easy. However, what is the relationship between the two? I happen to know that Heading 1=H1 but if I didn't know that how would I find it out? If I use other pre-defined styles and want to know their equivalent HTML tag how would I find this out?

If I define my own style, what happens at the HTML end?

Try formatting text with the various styles and looking at the HTML tab to see the code that FP inserts. Of course, FP inserts code elsewhere -the Style list is a list of paragraph styles. If you wish to define your own styles - you will need to use Cascading Style Sheets.
The browser at the other end will download the .css file (cascading style sheet) AND the html page and use the style sheet as formattting instructions for the page.
