    Form Spanning Pages (FP2000)

I have a form on a web page that works fine (data entered on the form gets properly posted and handled by the cgi script). The form is long enough that the user must scroll down a couple of times before reaching the end, completing the form, and hitting submit. I think redesigning the form so that its various sections are presented on individual pages would be 'friendlier'. My concern is that I do not know if I can have my form spread across multiple web pages and still collect all the data and send it to the cgi script after hitting submit on the 'last' page. Can someone get me started in the right direction? TIA

I'm afraid I can't answer your question directly, but I can foresee all sorts of problems in the data gathering if the user, for example, hits the Back button to check what they had previously entered.

How about dividing into into sections with bookmarks at the beginning of each section, so that using navigation links or graphics - (e.g. like <IMG SRC=http://www.wopr.com/w3timages/all.gif> ) -the screen automatically scrolls to the next 'window' of form to be filled in.

I agree with Leif, you'd need to work with "cookies" or Java script to help maintain state across pages.

I don't know anything about CGI scripts, but in ASP you would do this by storing the previous page's value as hidden fields in the next form so that when you reach the last page, all the data can be submitted.
