Adding fields to Outlook's Contact form (XP)

To my pleasure I discovered that I could add fields to the form view of a contact record using Tools | Forms | Design this form.

First problem: I couldn't see how to get out of the 'design' mode and, when I somehow managed this feat, (second problem) the form was unchanged for all other data records in that (and all other) sub-folders of Contacts.

I'm obviously making some wrong assumption(s), but I haven't the faintest idea what they are.

    Help, please!

Check out the first Q&A in this MS FAQ:

OL2000: Questions About Custom forms and outlook Solutions (Q146636)

Also, there might be a version of this document for XP by now.

Many thanks. I've been there and printed out parts of the document. It begins to make sense...

If you are a relative of Penny Scher who worked in the HR department of bank in NY the mid '80's please pass on my best wishes and e-mail address.

If I am I don't know it, but you never know!
